Just to add my 2 cents...the fuzzy finder works fairly well when you know what it is you want to do. But as a beginner, when I'm still figuring things out it is quite good to in a glance, be able to see what options are available.
It allows for stumbling onto functions or categories I hadn't considered before, just by glancing through 'the headlines' as it were.

This is why I like Playmaker's action browser so much; it has big buttons for a category, that when clicked spring open show all available functions available for that category, and is searchable like the fuzzy finder.

It docks so it can be open all the time, and it is quick to drag in the stuff I need.
