Help with Introduction To Bolt Tutorial

Lisa M 4 weeks ago updated by Lazlo Bonin (Lead Developer) 3 weeks ago 3

I am following this tutorial:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAlf6Jb5XFI&list=WL&index=21&t=0s

At 27:49 in this video there is an instruction to add Transform: Get Forward in the Graph editor while one of the player cube instances is selected. However I'm using a Bolt 1.4.6f3 with Unity 2019.2.5f1 and I do not see that option available. What should I choose instead?

Bolt Version:
1.4.6f3
Unity Version:
2019.2.5f1
Platform(s):
Scripting Backend:
.NET Version (API Compatibility Level):

Never mind.  I answered my own question.  When right-clicking in the graph, searching for "get forward" no longer works.  However if I manually select one of the CubePlayers (e.g. PlayerCube(4)) and click the >, Transform >, and then forward(get) can be found.

Hi Lisa,

Sorry you're experiencing this issue. I re-categorized this as a bug because it should still work. I'll have a look soon, in the mean time I'm glad you found a workaround!

Cannot Reproduce

Hi Lisa,

I tried reproducing the issue but couldn't.

The test environment is essentially the same, Bolt v.1.4.6f3 + Unity 2019.2.1f1 + .NET Standard 2.0.

My steps were:

  1. Create a new scene
  2. Create an empty game object with a flow machine
  3. Set the flow machine to embed
  4. Right click in an empty space of the graph
  5. Type "get forward"

As expected, I see the result in the finder:

Let me know if you find any more conditions that trigger the issue. For now I will mark it as cannot reproduce. Thanks!
